SolaCharge ("we", "us", or "our") operates the SolaCharge mobile application (the "App"). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information
When you register, we collect your name, email address, and password (stored as a secure hash) to create and manage your account.

Payment Information
We use Stripe to process payments. Your card details are entered directly into Stripe's secure interface and are never stored on our servers. We retain only a reference token provided by Stripe to identify your saved payment method.

Location Data
With your permission, we access your device's location to show nearby EV charging stations on the map. Location data is used only in real time and is not stored on our servers.

Charging Session Data
We record details of your charging sessions including start time, end time, energy consumed (kWh), cost, and the charging station used. This is required to provide billing and session history.

Device Information
We collect basic device identifiers (device type, operating system version) for debugging and service improvement.

Guest Users
If you use the app as a guest, we create a temporary anonymous profile linked only to your session. A pre-authorisation hold is placed on your payment card via Stripe. No personal account is created. Guest data is deleted after 90 days.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Create and manage your account
• Process payments for charging sessions
• Display your session history and receipts
• Show nearby charging stations based on your location
• Send transactional notifications (session started, session ended, payment confirmation)
• Improve and maintain the reliability of our service
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

3. Data Sharing

We share your data only with the following service providers:

• Stripe — payment processing (stripe.com/privacy)
• Amazon Web Services — cloud infrastructure hosting (aws.amazon.com/privacy)
• Expo — mobile app build and update platform (expo.dev/privacy)

All providers are contractually required to handle your data securely and only for the purposes we specify.

4. Data Retention

• Account data is retained for as long as your account is active.
• Session history is retained for 7 years for financial record-keeping purposes.
• Guest session data is retained for 90 days then permanently deleted.

5. Security

We protect your data using HTTPS encryption for all data in transit, encrypted database storage, and strict access controls within our organisation.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@solacharge.net. We will respond within 30 days.

7. Children's Privacy

SolaCharge is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or through the app.
